Mon Petit Chou – Vintage Container Design & Styling
I travel near and far for interesting vintage containers that I can use for my designs and styling. Often times, with the addition of plant material, these vintage containers come alive, and really pop, taking on a totally new look and effect. Antiques and vintage pieces can be re-purposed for a whole new life and function. I use all different kinds of plants and earthy materials. Plants that are fun to work with in vintage containers are succulents, herbs, bulbs, grasses, ferns, color annuals, perennials, small trees, topiaries, and more.
What I use and why can depend on the season, a decor look I am are trying to achieve, and what will work best for a particular container often dictated by it’s shape, color, theme, and location.
My vintage container design and styling business is called “Mon Petit Chou”, a French term of endearment which means “my little cabbage head”, “my little darling” . Mon Petit Chou is also very symbolic of the garden, “cabbage, king of the vegetables”, and the “poor man’s rose”.
