It is difficult to tell them (in a nuice way) that they have let them grow too tall in the first place. They are a wonderful flower though and, as you mention, give off a great scent. You hit the nail on the head when you said they can sometimes be overpowering but I have never found this. It is great getting a bag full of bulbs, potting them, nurtiring them, them and watching them grow.
